It's true that credentials don't make you a better teacher and isn't too much work to get one of the basic ones. It's not a perfect system, but I think it's at least the starting point to hiring based on ability... I guess it's like why colleges have standardized exam requirements - because it's one factor to gauge if a student is ready. Likewise, a teaching credential is just one factor to gauge a teacher. But yes, I agree with your point - I do wonder how we can create a "standard" to recognize and promote great teachers. Thanks for reading, David.
